Hrit Chakra can also be referred to as the Hridaya or the Sacred Heart.
Hrit Chakra is located just below Anāhata and above Muladhara. The vrittis of Hrit Chakra aren’t essentially whirling emotions, they are more like states of mind. While Anahata is about the emotional fluctuations of the heart (the 12 Vrittis like hope/greed), Hrit is about the spiritual orientation of the soul. These eight, golden petals represent the eight directions and eight-fold nature of the soul’s potential to project its consciousness out into the universe to manifest the heart’s desire.
Subtle Differences Between Hrit Chakra and Heart Chakra
Within the quiet chamber of the Sacred Heart lies a compass known only to the silent witness. Its petals are not mere directions, but trials of the soul—where shadow and virtue mirror one another across the threshold. The uninitiated see only a labyrinth; the seeker finds the path through stillness

The Outer View: The Garden Walled Within
Beneath the surface of ordinary perception lies the silent sanctuary of the Hrit Chakra, often veiled as the Sacred Heart. Unlike the rushing tides of daily emotion, this inner chamber is a landscape of profound stillness—a golden pavilion where consciousness itself takes root.
Within this quiet space rests an eight-petaled lotus, waiting for the dawn of true awareness. To approach this altar is to understand the ancient art of the Sankalpa—the planting of a singular, unshakeable intention. It is not a wish cast into the wind, but a diamond seed dropped into fertile, unyielding soil.
Here, where heaven and earth meet within the quiet architecture of the soul, the seeker learns that what is sown in deep equanimity must inevitably rise. The full rite of the Kalpa Taru meditation—the unfolding of the wish-fulfilling tree from seed to blossom—awaits those who cross the threshold into the inner circle.
The KALPA TARU Meditation
Manifesting Through the Secret Altar of the Heart
The Practice
1. The Seat of Stillness: Find a comfortable position where your spine is a straight pillar of light. Close your eyes and let the weight of your day drop away. Imagine you are sitting in a sanctuary of pure gold. Breathe slowly, feeling the air enter and leave like a gentle tide.
2. The Golden Altar: Draw your awareness deep into the center of your chest, just below the emotional heart. Here, visualize a radiant eight-petaled Golden Lotus (the Hrit Chakra). It is steady, warm, and glowing with an ancient light. This is your internal altar—the place where the physical world meets the spiritual.
3. Planting the Sankalpa: Within this golden lotus, bring forward your Sankalpa—your most heartfelt intention. State it clearly and simply in the present tense. See this intention as a shimmering diamond seed. Gently place this seed into the very center of the golden lotus.
4. The Rising of the Tree: As you breathe into the lotus, watch the seed begin to sprout. A magnificent tree—the KALPA TARU—begins to rise. Its trunk is made of jeweled light, and its branches reach upward, filling your entire being. This is the tree that bridges heaven and earth, turning your “Wish” into “Will.”
5. The Blossom of Fulfillment: Watch as your Sankalpa travels up the trunk and bursts into thousands of glowing blossoms. Feel the reality of your intention vibrating in every cell of your body. The tree is now fully grown within you, rooted in your heart and reaching into the infinite.
6. The Radiance: Sit in the shade of your own wish-fulfilling tree. Feel the peace of knowing that what you have planted in the Hrit must manifest in the world. Offer a smile of gratitude to your inner sanctuary, and slowly open your eyes.
The map of the inner directions is only as clear as the stillness of the mind reading it. For those prepared to move beyond the outer gate and receive the full alchemical transmission of the Hrit Chakra, the inner circle opens within my upcoming chakra intensive course.”
