Essence Purified Nectar of Truth

The process of transcendence begins in this chakra. As the aspirant becomes freer from worldly desires, they move closer to total wisdom and knowledge. This can only be achieved by increasing the capacity for concentration.

Vishuddha: The Alchemical Filter of Truth

The primary function of Vishuddha is to act as a spiritual filter. It purifies the air we breathe and neutralizes “poisons” that enter our field in the form of impure thoughts, heavy energy, or toxic words and emotions. When this chakra is pure, our most painful experiences are transformed into the nectar of wisdom and learning.

The Element of Space (Akasha)

  • The First Element: Space was the first element created and serves as the essence of all things. It is the vast, omnipresent vacuum in which the other four elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) manifest. The Element of Vishuddha is space.
  • The Bija Mantra: The resonant seed sound for this space is HAM.
  • The Senses: Vishuddha governs the Auditory senseβ€”controlling the ears (hearing) and the throat (voice/sound).

Space is omnipresent, it is present everywhere. Space is the essence of emptiness. Among the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and space), Akasha – Space, is the most subtle and pervasive. It’s the “space” in which all other elements exist and manifest.

The Path to Transcendence

The true process of spiritual transcendence begins here. As we become less tethered to worldly desires, we move toward total knowledge. This shift is achieved by increasing our capacity for concentration, allowing the mind to settle into the “inner space” that reflects the outer universe.

The Power of Authentic Resonance

An active Vishuddha allows you to communicate with total authenticity. It creates a bridge between your Inner Masculine (logic and structure) and Inner Feminine (intuition and creativity). When these two forces meet in the throat, you express your truest self.

A Note on the Occult Gate

Sadhguru, a globally recognized yogi and mystic, offers a cautionary perspective on this center. He suggests that Vishuddha is the center of the occult. Because an active Vishuddha can draw the attention of disembodied beings, it requires a high level of spiritual equipment and stability to handle. He warns that those who focus solely on this center may find it difficult to fit into ordinary social structures, as their resonance begins to shift away from the mundane world.

The Symbol

  • Vishuddha is a lotus flower with sixteen smoky purple petals.
  • A white circular moon shape represents space with the bija mantra of space, ham (ΰ€Ήΰ€‚) inside
  • Akasha, (Space) is dressed in white and mounted on a white elephant
  • In the centre of the lotus is a downward-facing triangle with a circle inside it that shines with the brightness of the full moon, representing the element of space (Akasha).
  • The moon shape is carried by a snow-white elephant, Gaja personifying the positive attributes of abundance, fertility and richness; boldness and strength; and wisdom and royalty.
  • Its main characteristic is sound (shadja). Space (Akasha) contains the seed logos – the first sound. Sound waves require a medium (like air, water, or solids) to travel. Space, in its purest form (a vacuum), is silent, because there is nothing to vibrate to make a sound. From this vast silent vacuum of space, the universe was created by the seed syllable Om.
  • Through Vishuddha, spirit is made pure by warding off negativity.

The harmonizing vibration of the bija mantra, Ham resonates in the throat area and the element of space helping to open and purify the chakra. This symbol is also on one of the patals of the next chakra, Ajna. It encapsulates the essence of the chakra.
